Our Mission

Our mission is to establish Pittsburgh as a city that is increasingly safe, accessible, and friendly to bicycle transportation.

Our Vision

Pittsburgh is a bustling metropolis comprised of people of diverse backgrounds willing to participate in shaping all aspects of the region. Debates are healthy and commonplace. It is a city full of innovative ideas on all fronts, including: medicine, computing, robotics, ethics and the environment. The air is clean and green space is utilized to its fullest. There are no barriers separating Pittsburghers from the rivers, and they are able to easily access these amenities as well as other neighborhoods by way of safe, cheap, clean and quiet transportation alternatives, including: clean fuel buses, light rail, pedestrian walkways and bike lanes. People are not afraid to ride bicycles anywhere. In fact, it is the preferred method of travel when the weather accommodates.

Our Goals

  • Pursue the timely implementation of the City Bike Plan
  • Promote Pittsburgh as a bicycling community
  • Represent the interests of bicyclists
  • Endorse the bicycle as a viable, economical, and desirable mode of transportation
  • Educate bicyclists and motorists on road safety
  • Assist local agencies in establishing bike-friendly policies for Pittsburgh
  • Strengthen ties amongst community Development Corporations, businesses, and the bicycling community
  • Contribute to Pittsburghers’ health and environment

We value:

  • The unique neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, diverse ethnicities, and variety of lifestyles
  • A well-informed Pittsburgh citizenry that spans the demographic spectrum and participates in the Democratic Process
  • A healthy, clean, safe, and sustainable environment
  • A vibrant economy that attracts new talent, and employs people at a living wage
  • The equitable distribution of Public Resources
  • That which embraces the use of bicycles as a physically healthy, primary mode of transportation in the Pittsburgh Region
